Visited during the week and had a lovely trip up to Embsay and back. I love steam engines, but I also have a special place in my heart for the Class 37 diesel of my youth, so imagine my excitement when our return leg was pulled by one? Yeah, the roles are reversed and diesel came to the rescue of steam when our steam engine “broke a spring” as Embsay. Some would say it was a disappointment, but for me, it made my day. :) A very enjoyable, albeit short steam-diesel experience with lovely people all around (staff and visitors alike). Perfect.
