On holiday from Scotland, we visited Hitchin on a Friday afternoon and went into Fabio's for some treats. We ordered a range of items - cakes, hot drinks and gelato. All was going great! Until we went to pay... 'sorry, we don't accept Scottish bank notes. We didn't make this decision - the owner did. He doesn't accept them as we can't tell if they are real or fake'. We were gobsmacked. Fabio's Gelato was only place we visited in England that didn't accept Scottish notes. If you have an issue accepting bank notes from the greatest country of all time as payment, please invest in a counterfeit machine or pen to check the notes your customers are using are real. We could see the girl serving us thought it was ridiculous by the way she looked at us, and rightly so. Who was to say the English note we reluctantly ended up using wasn't fake? This wasn't checked for authenticity. Counterfeit machines are relatively inexpensive and would really allow more of your Scottish customers to enjoy your handmade gelato.

I generally don't put any small businesses down on Google. Unfortunately, today's experience was a huge disappointment as a regular customer on both Letchworth and Hitchin branch. This evening, I decided to treat my husband and my daughter some gelato as our desserts after our dinner. My daughter and my husband, both ordered a scoop each on a chocolate cone and a sprinkle cone. I ordered mine last with a chocolate cone, but sadly I had the smallest mini scoop. I was too embarrassed to even ask why I had the smallest scoop. When I was paying, I asked the lady if I could have my free scoop as the 2nd stamp would give me a free scoop. But she said no and explained that I can use on my next visit. To think about it, your customer service and the scoop size has gone down hill since the day you launched. Scoop size has to be consistent, and be fair to all customers. I've always had a single scoop, but today's scoop was half of what I used to get. I should have taken a pic of it, but oh well, I'm sure some customers would agree with me. Even my husband asked why my scoop was so tiny. Will I go back? I'm not sure now.
