I went to the one day beginner sewing class on Saturday 28th January 2023 and thoroughly enjoyed my day! Gill is a wonderful tutor. We learned the basics about how to use a sewing machine, read and cut a pattern, use basic stitches, how to press hems - and we all made a beautiful pair of pyjama bottoms! A really fun day. I feel confident now to use my machine, do the alterations I wanted to do and even to make some basic items. I'm looking forward to booking another session so I'll know how to work with a stretchy fabric. I would highly recommend this to anyone just starting out or who maybe needs a refresher and/or a bit of confidence. The shop also has a lovely supply of fabrics and wool - everything you need to get cracking.

Kathy is a knowledgable, patient and hospitable tutor showing me everything I need to know to get started on making garments all from her beautiful studio in the centre of York. I thoroughly enjoyed the classes and will definitely be back for more. If you’ve never sewn before then this is the perfect place to get started!

Just getting to the shop was exciting, walking down the tiny Coffee Yard. Once inside, the range of sewing and craft materials was impressive. The staff were really helpful and friendly. I would wholeheartedly recommend Sewcialising for any dressmaking projects!

I’ve just completed a three week beginners sewing course and I am totally thrilled with my new skills! The course was well thought out and every step was detailed. Cathy answered all our questions and was always on hand to help. I’ve come away with a new love for sewing, a cushion cover and some fabulous pyjama bottoms that I’m super proud of! And the shop is amazing! Thank you for such a wonderful time, can’t wait to do more workshops in the future!

I had a fantastic workshop session at Sewcialising. They were very tolerant, and encouraging, and I came away with sewing to be proud of, and greatly improved confidence. The shop may be physically small, but it is well-stocked, with some lovely fabrics too.
