Great location right in the centre of York, but that’s pretty much the only good thing about this place. It’s nicely decorated, however there is no one paying any attention to the details. It’s advertised as having a sofa bed and a separate bedroom and it certainly looks that way when you walk in, however the IKEA sofa bed is badly warped and is unusable, the bed doesn’t even have a proper mattress on it - it’s a block of foam. Likely fine if you’re a child, but as an adult all you can feel are the bed slats beneath the foam. No tea towel to dry dishes, not enough cutlery for a place that is supposed to be able to accommodate 4 people (fortunately just 2 of us), empty shower gel container in the bathroom, a cracked shower head that also sprays out of the side of the head (in to the bathroom), shower holder that is too loose to even hold the shower head so had to treat it as a hand held shower, main bathroom floor with floor tiles loose and grout missing - be careful if no shoes or socks on. Not enough lighting in the living room, awful and dark in the kitchen and no way to switch on the under counter lights, bulb in the kitchen can not working either. Bulbs not working in one of the bedside lamps. It’s a dark bedroom as it faces the alley way, so would be nice to be able to fully open the black out blinds. However that’s not possible. These are IKEA blinds and the original looped cord is too short, so they have simply added an extra cord taped to the original, so that allows you to open the blinds by about 20-24 inches before the tape gets caught in the roller mechanism. The additional cord on one blind was broken, so that one couldn’t even be opened. The property is managed by W & B Property Management, so either they are doing a lousy job at checking and maintaining the property in addition to the owner big being unwilling to spend any money on the place (broken sofa bed, foam block instead of a proper bed mattress). Stayed in this building before via Booking.com and that place was fantastic, clean and well maintained, so recommend the location but not this apartment.
