We booked a one night stay at the House of Sebastiao Maria - The Rooms and I could not be more disappointed with our decision to stay there. The pictures we have seen online are not even close to reality and we feel deceived. The shower room was tiny and the shower itself was attached to the wall literally on top of the toilet. Have you ever tried taking a shower while sitting on the toilet? This is your chance! What made it even worse, is that the drain was completely blocked and the water did not drain making it impossible to use the toilet and there was water everywhere on the floor.. We were on the second floor, Where another two rooms were located and one of the neighbors had a cat. Perhaps the cat was unwell or under a lot of stress. The poor animal was crying the entire night, crying so loud that it made it impossible to sleep. The doors had huge gaps and unfortunately we heard absolutely every sound coming from the corridor or the neighbors. The bottom line here is that I would not recommend this place as this was an absurd experience.

Really enjoyed my stay, nice rooms / real London experience in great location. However - please do not lock the cat Mr Gustavo in a small cage for hours out in the garden! He was meowing for hours unhappy which is cruel. 😿

Great place, price and location. Right off brick lane - ideal for exploring east london. Very large room and beautiful gardens with water features and fresh fruit falling off the trees - in the heart of east London?!? The breakfast was way above what I was expecting and the staff even down to the lady who helps with breakfast were friendly, happy to help. Felt like being part of a community more than just a hotel.

Beautiful hotel, located close to the best locations. Definitely up there as the most enjoyable hotel stay I’ve ever had, would stay here again. Upon our arrival we were greeted by the owner where he was kind enough to invite us for Prosecco and a bbq in the garden with some of his friends. The room was stylishly designed (Instagramers dream) super clean and really comfortable. The bathroom is really warming and clean didn’t find sharing the bathroom inconvenient at all, the other guests were really respectful (So don’t let the shared bathrooms turn you off). We had full access to the kitchen, so could Go down and have a coffee whenever we wanted. They also have a hotel cat called Mr Gustavo, that chills out is his golden tea tray and loves the fuss. Looking forward to our next stay over
