We used Hyde Tutoring to help prepare for a 10+ assessment. Their October half term revision courses in English and Maths were a really great reminder of the topics. The courses were well paced, offered plenty of variety to keep the children interested. It was very easy to arrange a few extra sessions on tricky subjects and Charlotte was very attentive and easy to work with.

We were fairly late to the game, employing Hyde Tutoring just 3 months before our son was due to sit the 7+ exams at some of the hardest nuts to crack, Kings in Wimbledon, Hampton Prep, and Latymer Lower school. Thankfully, we made this decision, and though we have a naturally bright boy, we had no clue about the 'system', the sorts of questions that come up most frequently and how to get the very best out of him. We were very blessed to be allocated to a tutor called Amina, a fantastic, patient, calm, and understanding lady that we genuinely believed was every bit as invested in his success as we were. Amina worked her magic, and our son passed the entrance exams at both Kings and Hampton, and with us accepting a place at Hampton, opted not to sit the Latymer paper. Amina truly celebrated our son's success as we did, and if this is the standard of tutor employed by Hyde Tutoring consistently, your children will be in good hands, and given as good a chance as any in what is a very competitive environment out there. Eternally grateful.

My child had a number of sessions in the run up to an assessment with Susannah and enjoyed them so much that he requested to continue beyond the exam with her. Susannah helped him progress his creative writing without it being a chore. He would genuinely end the sessions on a high. Can't recommend enough!

I cannot praise Charlotte and the team at Hyde Tutoring highly enough. I first contacted Charlotte two years ago, ready to start tutoring my Year 4 state primary daughter for the competitive independent school 11+ process. Charlotte provided some very sound advice and quickly put us in touch with Jess, who has essentially become part of the family in the intervening years! Jess has been both highly organised and also supremely flexible, integrating our own feedback and preferences into crafting a tutoring course of study completely customised to our daughter. Jess has consistently provided the right balance of discipline and care, providing the emotional support we've all needed to navigate the process in addition to skillfully addressing the academic areas of focus. We were impressed enough that we also had Jess start working with our 8 year old son just 6 months in advance of the competitive 9+ exams. I'm delighted to report that both children got an offer from every single school they applied to, and we are preparing to send them each to their highly academic top choice schools. For local knowledge of the south London school scene, you cannot go wrong with Hyde. The holiday half term courses are also excellent, as is the ongoing availability of Charlotte for phone calls and ad hoc advice. Highly recommended.

Thank you to Charlotte and the team including Helen for the amazing support and help you have given us. From the tuition sessions to checking exams papers every time I sent them across (thank you Jess for the English feedback especially!!) My son decided to do 10+ and not only did he clear written exams in the schools he applied for in less than 2.5 months and has now recd. an offer as well. The whole process really needed a team effort and Hyde Tutoring really helped me in this! The revision courses were fantastic. From organising 121s with appropriate tutors on a short notice to providing us with additional papers to practice, Charlotte was on the ball. We started tutoring with Hyde Tutoring around 1 year ago, first with an intense course over the holidays and followed by weekly sessions for maths and English - mainly to ensure our son was better prepared for the 11+ exams. First of all, I was really impressed with the intake conversation. Charlotte really took the time to understand what we were looking for, what our son was like, what schools we were considering - this in itself was a big help as we were completely clueless around schools and had not done much research. The tutors have been great, especially Eleanor for English, and Alex for maths. We moved from one-to-one sessions for maths to group sessions as that suited him better, gaining confidence being pushed but also surrounded by others and not having the spotlight completely on him. The sessions are fun, relaxed and the children start to know each other which helps them being engaged and wanting to do it. As I mentioned, we went into the whole 11+ process very unprepared, but the regular practice of the papers and concrete examples shared during the lessons made our son much more comfortable with the whole process. I am glad to say that he received offers for all the 4 schools he applied for, which came as a bit of a (welcome!) shock and even if that is of course down to a whole range of factors, including a lot of practice outside of the tutoring, the sessions definitely had a positive impact. I also really appreciated the support Charlotte showed throughout the process. When we got through to the interview stage, we reached out to book a one-off interview "practice" session with Eleanor to put him at ease and think about the type of questions he might be getting. And even now, when we are faced with a choice of schools, both Charlotte and Eleanor responded immediately with words of advise on what to take into consideration, how to select etc. It has made the whole process much less daunting. Thanks a lot to Charlotte and the team!

I was looking to get a bit of support during the half term holidays + the month prior to exams for my daughter, who dislikes doing homework by herself or with her parents. Gavin’s approach to English tuition suited our purposes well, being exam focused to a degree but also with an unhurried, holistic, element. His being local to the area, and consequent degree of familiarity with most local selective schools and testing approaches, was a definite asset.
