James Kidd & Sons garden centre aka Giants Seat garden centre. Parking is a total nightmare. A small car park; two parallel rows of narrow spaces facing each other and very limited space to manoeuvre. IMHO anything bigger than a Smart car, you're asking for trouble! If I could, I would have reversed back up the slip road. But with cars backed up behind me on the slip road and cars trying to manoeuvre in the car park, I was stuck. So my wife went into the garden centre to look around and left me in the car. There is parking availablity on the public road leading to the garden centre about 100-200 meters away. The problem is that there is a steep slip road leading from the main road down to the garden centre. So if you buy anything large and heavy you will struggle to get it up the slip road to your car. All that said, we bought two reasonably priced well stocked hanging baskets which we were able to put straight in the car in the carpark. Would we visit again? Hard to say. It's a long way from where we live. But on saying that, if we decided to go again, I would definitely park on the main road.

The Giants Seat is my favourite local nursery. A proper plantspersons nursery. Plants are always in good condition, weed free, and reasonably priced. You can see the staff of this family run business take great pride in their job, advise is freely given with a smile, every visit is a pleasure. Get there early as it only has a small car park which can be fun to get in and out of when busy. Added bonus - it sits beside the River Irwell, beside an access onto Moses Gate Country Park - lovely walk! All it's missing is a little cafe and it would be perfect.
