My husband had applied for visa in 2022 for 5 year term. He was granted 3 years instead of 5. The Home office was supposed to refund our IHS surcharge and Visa fee. Despite several followups over phone, emails, letters there was 0 progress. Home office lazy employees would conveniently raise a new ticket every time.Frustrated, disappointed,we reached out to local MP Mr Mike Kane, we thought we would loose all money and did not have any hopes but Mr Kane escalated this issue and made sure that our money was refunded(about two grand).He had several meetings with Home office employees and finally we got our hard earned money in 2023. Mr Kane also was giving us up to date with the progress. We are very happy and just can’t thank him enough.

I tried to contact Mr Kane as he’s my local MP and shadow secretary for aviation. As I work in aviation the latest travel update from the government hit me and my colleagues across the industry hard, so instead of sitting around and complaining I decided to write to someone who is supposed to represent us ordinary people on parliament. Sent the email, automatic reply. I got secretary’s reply to include my details. Did that. Nothing since. I sent another email a week later. Still no reply. I know my colleagues’ MPs actually took it seriously and took time to reply, mine didn’t care. He’s supposed to look after our industry. My future votes will be far away from Mr Kane and co. And I’ll also spread the word to my neighbours not to bother either.

Tryed to contact earlier and was informed via a recorded message that all staff still working from home. Surely they have phones at home also thought our local MP would be classed as a key worker or do we not need local MP's anymore???
