This review is not a reflection on the staff as ones we know well are lovely. The food we find to be good to great so we travel ten miles each way as a treat. When the restaurant is open we eat there, when it's not we use the takeaway, usually I'm travelling just to pick up the food after work. The issue is, it has become extremely noticeable after years as a customer that the regular fish size has gone down, After multipe orders we where thinking if this is regular small must be non existent. so on our previous visit and again today we decided to have two large fish to make up for it at a cost of £5 extra over 2x regular fish. So when you open the box to find out that the fish is the same size as the regular fish (infact we've had larger regular fish here) not only is the fish size inconsistent, but you feel like you are being taken for a fool as it has become obvious you are charged for a large but do not get anything extra. I respect places are having to tigten up to make profit and i wouldn't feel cheated if it was made clear portion sizes have been reviewed due to rising costs. I'm actually a bit sad to leave the review but after multiple chances incase of a one off, it has happened multiple times. In response to the owners reply mistakes can be made. so i have no problem in continuing to be a customer, in future i will order regular and large fish to see if it continues to happen. If it doesn't my review would be unjust and i shall remove it, if it does not i can forward pictures to you or leave them here. I hope that is fair.

A great little place just a short walk from the seafront. The price is incredibly reasonable for the size you receive with your meal as well. A lot of the Fish & Chip places in Redcar feel a little grubby or cheap, yet Oliver's always has consistently great quality. Vegetarian options: The staff are more than happy to use alternative oils for their food, e.g instead of cooking their chips in animal fat.

Visiting family for a few days and we were recommended it by my uncle who said Oliver's had won an award for their fish and chips. I can see why, they were delicious. We all enjoyed them, price was good. We took a menu to put in the air bnb we were staying in. When we next head up north, we will definitely visit there again.
