  I came to the ENT here after experiencing Eustachian tube problems following a virus for 3 weeks, I explained in great detail and in an articulate manner what all my symptoms were and what I had been experiencing. During the date of my appointment, my eustachian tube pressure had cleared up, and I said myself that I KNEW I was better but something still didnt feel right with my ear (tinnitus, pain etc) but even before testing the pressure, the doctor (who was really nice but that still doesn’t excuse this behaviour) implied very clearly that I may have been “thinking up the symptoms” by “fixating” - I don’t know if its misogyny, or some doctors just think that gaslighting patients into thinking they never had anything wrong with them can be somehow helpful or what, but devalidating the pain your patient has been through and their entire experience is NEVER helpful. I explained to the doctor that I’ve had tinnitus in my ear ever since the whole ordeal, to which he said could be related to stress (okay so its only in the effected ear ever since my ear was injured and im somehow bringing that on by stress even though ive NEVER had or “imagined” tinnitus before??) since he clearly didnt believe me, instead I tactically asked him if its possible to get tinnitus based on the issue that I may have had and he said “no, its impossible” what? Literally what? It takes one google search to find medical articles citing tinnitus after a virus, covid, COMMON COLD, and eustachian tube dysfunction, which is what I had? Why attempt to devalidate my entire experience to this extent? I will reiterate, that the doctor was kind and friendly and professional, however telling your patient that you could be imagining up symptoms is literally so insane. I was in literal agony for weeks. I STILL have tinnitus and my ear still hurts and has a burning sensation. Its such a horrible feeling when people dont believe your pain let alone a health worker who you paid £300 for. I felt like I paid 300 quid to be told I’m crazy! Furthermore, last week I went to the GP for the reoccurring sore throat and ear pain I’ve been having ever since the virus, and they looked in my ear (just as the ENT at your clinic did) and the gp told me my eardrum that was effected has a curve and looks different. I was not told this at my appointment with your clinic. It may be a small intricacy but surely I deserve to be told this? If im experiencing ear pain, even if YOUR doctor cant help me, wouldnt it help to know theres even the smallest abnormality, that might give me hope of getting treatment from another doctor in future? What good does it do playing with someones head and telling them “its possible your brain fixated on the normal functions of the ear” - give me a break, im TELLING YOU that the effected ear is in pain, has tinnitus, and feels completely different from the non effected ear and you’re telling me this?! Once again, whilst the doctor did a good job at being friendly and approachable and explaining the anatomy of the ear, he did not help in validating my symptoms, letting me feel heard or understood.

  I went in for my surgery with Dr Chadwan Al Yaghchi in September 2022. The procedures I had done were glottoplasty and a tracheal shave. I can’t fault any of the hospital experience/prior consultations and communication, other than I felt like I was rushed out of the hospital too soon and the receptionist of the hospital was rude to my guest. However, the nurse that looked after me was extremely accommodating and caring. I would just like to share my opinion as I am not happy with the results. Before I had the surgery I was made aware that 10% of glottoplasty procedures do not work. Unfortunately I was in this 10%. I have since been back for evaluation with Yaghchi and he did confirm this. It has now been 7 Month, I am now left with a few complications from the surgery, these include losing volume in my voice as I am often asked to repeat my speech, and people find it hard to understand me. I have also lost control of my pitch and my throat gets sore easily after talking for extended periods of time, whereas prior to this procedure this was not the case. I was also quite unhappy that with these issues I had to pay myself afterwards for the endoscopy for them to tell me it hadn’t worked. I was advised I could try the surgery again however I was also told I would have to pay full price. Secondly my tracheal shave hasn’t wielded the results I was expecting and have seen on other transgender women I know who have had the same procedure with a lot better results. It is still very visible and I also brought this up to Yaghchi and was told again this is all they could do. I thought I would share my opinion as I haven’t seen too many reviews online and wish I had read more into the surgery online beforehand. I am extremely disappointed with the results, and I think mostly about the aftercare and lack of free revision (as I have seen with other surgeries).

  I went to OneWelbeck, because I was assured, by their literature, it was world class, world leading. Yet horrifyingly, my confirmation of diagnosis of AF, was also, after ECG exam now associated with another complication, which was was unusual for someone my age, 53. Naturally, very alarmed with this new discovery, my wife and I left the clinic distressed. Imagine my surprise the next day, when I answered an ‘unknown number’ call, to be speaking with the consultant from the previous day to tell me they’d mixed my ECG with someone else! Shocking! There’s more….
