Mixed thoughts about our most recent visit (coronation weekend) The positives: - The guy doing the Archery was fantastic he’s a credit to the team. He really made the effort to ensure everyone safely enjoyed the experience. - The fun fair was a lovely addition though very expensive for the minimal amount of rides available - Splash park is fantastic for younger children - staff in lakeside restaurant were lovely and accommodating - The seaside squad photo op in the mash and barrel was a lovely end to the holiday. - Entertainment staff were great (though one was a bit of a jobsworth telling children off over the mic quite regularly) - check in & check out was quick and easy! - Even though we booked a saver caravan it was still very luxury (not sure if this was a fluke or standard?) I was pleasantly surprised on arrival of the caravan we had for the price we got it at! - Toilets in the main complex were clean - Pedalos were great. My kids rarely just ‘relax’ but they did on the lake. It was really enjoyable. Negatives: - The arcades need urgent attention. Hardly any of the machines work correctly including the ticket eaters and you could tell staff were utterly fed up with people nagging them about it. - The lack of a toilet in either show bar is astounding to me. I visited as a single parent with 2 children. Now, the dilemma is entirely my problem but I was often put in an extremely difficult position deciding whether to abandon my table, drinks, and belongings to take the children to the toilet or allow them to go by themselves (which they are very capable of doing). I let them go on their own once, but because they had to leave the show bar to go to the toilet, security marched them back to the table and scolded me about leaving them unattended. I explained my situation and expressed how inconvenient it was not having any toilets within the show bars. He agreed. - I felt the prices across the whole site were extortionate. From the experiences to the food it was outrageous. This is to be expected from a Haven site but £12 for one portion of fish and chips? Mental. - most, if not all, of the activities were fully booked despite the site being reasonably quiet. We managed to get a few activities in by chancing our luck and asking on the day if there were any no shows. - SIGNAL!! if you are on any network other than 02 I would strongly urge you to take a dongle/mifi. I couldn’t even so much as check the weather forecast on my phone without going down to the main areas for the free WiFi. This meant being unable to book last minute activities or tables for evening meals. Overall, we had a thoroughly enjoyable holiday. Though, primrose needs some updating and maintenance before we’ll return again I think.
