Same experience as others. Picked up some parts to avoid carriage charge and was charged significantly more than quoted. Won’t respond to requests for refund. Avoid.

TERRIBLE! AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE! I dealt with Neal and arranged to take my MS2B gearbox to be inspected for an oil leak, though otherwise working correctly. The diagnosis was that I was advised that I needed to spend £1170.35 to fix the oil leak by replacing the entire gear selector mechanism. Without offering me a full explanation this sounded over-the-top, later confirmed when I discussed with another Volvo Penta professional at Falmouth that has given me really great advice in the past. I suggested to RK that I replace the seal first and then retest afloat before spending out on a whole new mechanism, however, RK Marine wanted more than £500 for seal replacement. Having now already established parts prices from the other VP engineer knew this was rubbish and so I advised RK that I would collect the unit without carrying out further work. When I arrived to collect the gearbox and, not being cynical or anything, tested for complete smooth turning in gear and instantly felt stiffness in part of the rotation. Neal's response, "well it turns doesnt it". Immediately took my gearbox to another professional in the area for inspection. They reported that it took around 5 minutes to remove the selector mechanism and about half an hour to check and replace. THE RK MARINE ENGINEER PUT SELECTOR BACK BACKWARDS!!! Not only that, noticed that the gearbox sill had dirt around it which means that whoever the engineer was, he or she had not thought to clean dirt and grit from the unit prior to exposing the inner workings. TERRIBLE ABSENCE OF WORKMANSHIP. Plus, the mechanism is by no means in need of more than a polish and replacement O-Ring and Seal and it may weep if unlucky. So RK Marine, for your £78, I trust that other people see this review and that they will conclude, like me, that in future DIRTY POOR WORKMANSHIP AND ADVICE FOR IMMEDIATELY UNNECESSARY WORK is to be avoided. Go elsewhere people. Apparently Golden Arrow have a good reputation.

Very experienced parts sales and service team. No problem is too small or big, they will endeavour to always do their utmost to get the best resolution for the customer. I have experienced this first hand from the parts department, and the service department are always willing to help or offer advice. The boat yard team are some of the best of this era too. They take the best care and are excellent value for money. Highly recommended.

As part of the sale process of my boat, RK were commissioned by the buyer to perform repair and servicing on the outdrives, after which RK re-mounted the drives back onto the boat prior to launch for the sea-trial. After launch it was immediately found that reverse could not be engaged on the port drive. On investigation it was plain that the actuator could not shift to reverse. It seems the fitter did not test gear shift operation after re-fitting the drive, which it is entirely possible to do with boat out of water. When investigating this issue it was also found that the starboard drive props were tight to turn. The boat had to be lifted again so that what transpired to be a broken shift cable on port drive could be replaced and the starboard shift cable adjusted correctly to that the clutch wasn't partially engaged in neutral. Schoolboy errors that came close to breaking the deal to sell the boat. One month on still waiting for a response from Chris to this. ***************** To round this off, RK did acknowledge they worked on my boat but refused to accept any liability towards me as I did not commission the work hence no contract. It seems they have not heard of tort, or civil wrongdoing, in common law, and have ignored my claim in tort for negligence. Dear your own conclusions.

Unbelievable. Just quoted £175 for a glow plug. £30 from any other dealer. Dishonest.
