Amazing service received by Shamim at S & B Accountants. Had a backlog of accounting issues I had to resolve for my limited company. My experience at S&B Accountants working under the Kickstarter scheme as a trainee bookkeeper gave me confidence to flourish in an accounting workplace and gave me a good understanding of what a career in accounting would entail and what I need to do to become successful. Whilst I was undergoing training from the first day, I felt supported by my supervisor who was available and keen to teach and help me whenever I sought it which made me less anxious and more comfortable working in an accounting environment for the first time. In what feels like a short time, I started to feel like a valued member of the company where I was trusted with important work such as being responsible for creating business plans for start-up companies looking to acquire loans. As well as, I was regularly asked to review work the accountants have done and to alert them for errors which tapped into my analytical skills. Sometimes, I’d miss errors and the accountants would teach me what to look out for and what I missed. I gained some experience liaising with clients, mainly via email which has improved my overall communication with clients. One thing that was instilled into me was the rules and regulations in accounting practice, always to do due diligence and consequences to taking certain shortcuts. In conclusion, my experience here was great in learning the accounting practice and giving me a new and informed perspective of how a career in accounting industry would be and now I can better plan for my future after leaving here.
