What is the orphanage’s mission statement and core values?

At St Ethelburga's Centre for Reconciliation and Peace Venue, our mission is to create a safe and nurturing environment for children in need of care and protection. Our core values include compassion, respect, and a commitment to helping children achieve their full potential.

How does the orphanage ensure the physical and emotional safety of the children?

We take the safety and wellbeing of our children extremely seriously. We have a comprehensive child protection policy in place, which includes regular training for staff, thorough background checks for all employees and volunteers, and a strict code of conduct that all staff and visitors must adhere to. We also provide a range of support services, including counseling and therapy, to help children deal with emotional trauma.

How does the orphanage assist children in transitioning to independence and life outside of the orphanage?

We believe that every child has the right to a stable and secure future. To that end, we offer a range of programs and support services designed to help children develop the skills they need to succeed in life outside of the orphanage. This includes vocational training, life skills training, mentoring, and ongoing support and guidance.

As a center for reconciliation and peace, our convent offers a structured daily routine that includes regular worship and prayer, as well as time for work and study. Our residents are encouraged to participate in all aspects of community life, including communal meals and other activities.

What type of religious practice or service is offered at the convent?

Our convent is a Christian community, and we offer daily worship services, including morning and evening prayers, as well as Sunday services. We also offer a range of spiritual retreats and other events throughout the year, designed to help visitors deepen their faith and connect with the wider community.

Great venue for events! It’s refreshing for an event to be held somewhere with character. It does have an echo (understandable) so make sure you test the acoustics before you go live. Just around the corner from Liverpool St station makes it even better 👌🏻

We chose St Ethelburgas as the venue for our wedding ceremony, with the reception held in a pub just around the corner. The Nave is a beautiful space and we liked the ethos of the organisation. We had quite a lot of things to set-up for the ceremony and Alastair was always very helpful and responsive to our many emails and questions. On the day, the space worked perfectly and many of our guests commented on what a beautiful venue it was. Thoroughly recommend St Ethelburga’s as a wedding and event venue!
