Ok, I’ll start by acknowledging our server was a polite friendly man overall. The decor and design were on point. Comfy, modern, stylish and funky. That’s what drags this up to 2 stars (it’s really 1..). A friend had flown in to town and 6 of us meeting. She’d asked for upmarket gastro central so Beau Bar seemed to fit - mainly 5 star reviews, few 1-2… It was virtually empty, 2-3 other tables occupied. Drinks were ordered and brought no problem. Then starters. The pork fritters were just deep fried bits of pork, another poor fayre portion wise and these at £10-£12 each. There were just 4 basic options for mains and 2 of them burgers. Mine was ok. A friend ordered Chicken, it arrived red raw inside. An apology was offered and it returned to the kitchen coming back out 10 to 15 minutes later looking deep fried and leathery. My friend tried a couple of small bits, and wisely decided to leave it. My wife had ordered the plant burger, mainly because it claimed to feature a beetroot relish. There was none. On pointing this out to our server he looked at it closely, then claimed that the plant burger did not come with relish, only the meat burger. Another friend showed him the menu, and where it clearly said that it did come with the relish. A separate ramekin was delivered. The three dessert options offered appealed to none of us,but we did order two teas and a coffee. When I poured the milk from my pot, a scummy film slopped out onto the top. I called over a second, server to point it out to him and he (and my friends!) tried to protest that it was the skin from the hot milk. I pointed out, correcting them that the milk was not hot… and clearly neither had been as clearly cold from the fridge. The waiter did at least offer to replace it. Then, to our surprise, our bill was brought over for prompt payment at 9:15 and the door thrown open to circulate the strong winds blowing from outside from a torrential rain Storm as our server explained to us that they were closing!!! They did remove the charge for the uncooked chicken and three hot drinks, but it was still very expensive for what it was at £285. On the opening times info here on Google, at least at the time of writing they state to be open until 10:30 pm on Friday nights. It begs the question why they had ushered us and all other diners out around an hour earlier? We saw only two members of staff, so perhaps there a staffing issue and if so this definitely went through to the kitchen, it seems !! it was nice to see our friends, but we all agreed won’t be meeting here again. There seems to be a growing issue of staffing problems here in London, and the whole of the UK, and this, of course, having a noticeable, negative knock-on effect on all other aspects of what should be a positive dining experience …

Nice place and atmosphere but superb staff - we booked and they were helpful and informative all night. I’m particularly grateful to Peter who was incredible when I broke a glass and my hand on it, helping right away, cleaning the cut and making sure I was okay after I passed out, even though it was the end of the shift. He even gave me a pineapple juice to keep my blood sugar levels up! I’m so grateful to him and the team

Went here for a quick dinner before a show, friendly staff, tasty burgers (sadly a bit cold), wines and a pint. Then on the bill a nasty surprise 15% service fee and £1 carbon tax… Those where serious expensive burges!

30 pounds for a beer, wine and hardly edible focaccia - ridiculous. I now see why I wasn’t offered a receipt.
