Rezum Enlarged Prostate Procedure I’m currently 58 years of age and had been struggling with passing water for over 5 years which was being caused by an enlarged prostate. My Doctor had prescribed Tamsulosin and more recently added Oxybutinin to help with my issues but the problem was slowly getting worse I was having problems with urine flow in terms of a weak or sometime low volume streams and this was causing my bladder to remain completely unemptied. I was needing to go to the toilet more than normal and this ranged from every 10 minutes on the odd time to every hour (more normal) The frequency was causing havoc with my sleeping patterns and some nights I would be up going to the loo between 5-7 times and over the years this had impacted on the quality of my life I saw a TV documentary about treatments for my symptoms by accident and then started to enquire about these treatments with my Doctor. The NHS seem to have little knowledge of these treatments but some limited hospitals could carry out various enlarged prostate procedures I’m fortunate to have medical insurance through work and enquired if I would be covered. The answer was yes so I then started to look around to see who could help I found Manchester Urology and then made contact to start the ball rolling. I met with the consultant Mr Adeyoju who specialised in treating enlarged prostates and he explained the various procedures that were available and the one that would be suitable for me I was obviously concerned about potential side effects that may have impacted on my daily life and lets be totally frank at this point….. my sex life All aspects were discussed, and I agreed to proceed Additional tests were carried out which whilst being a little invasive these helped to rule out further issues with my bladder A date was set to have the procedure carried and I was in and out of hospital within a day. I left hospital with a catheter which remained with me for 5 days before being removed The first 3 weeks ranged from being majorly uncomfortable to uncomfortable but after this period of time things started to settle down and I started to slowly feel the benefits of the treatment It is now 10 weeks after the procedure and I’m passing urine like I was 30 years younger, my bladder is emptying fully and whilst I still get the odd urgent need to pee this is going away and I guess is no worse than it was when I was younger. I’ve been able to stop taking Tamsulosin which has also taken away the side effects experienced from that drug and I feel that I’ve returned to having normal functioning visits to the loo and I’m also enjoying sleeping through at night with maybe only one or two visits to the toilet I’m soooo glad that I stumbled upon the TV program last year and I cannot recommend both Manchester Urology and Mr Adeyoju enough because having this treatment carried out has changed the quality of my life in a massive way Many men don’t talk about down below problems but I for one am glad I did and would urge other men to do the same Mike (From Bolton)

My husband was recently discharged from the care of Prof Ben Grey following surgery for removal of a kidney stone. We felt very fortunate to have a surgeon so outstandingly skilled and experienced as Prof Grey. He took time to explain our options very clearly so my husband felt able to make well-informed choices about his treatment. Prof Grey was always positive and caring which lifted our spirits throughout. Prof Grey's secretary, Nicola, was tremendous: always approachable and very efficient; often a detailed letter summarising our discussions and next steps would have popped up in our email by the time we had arrived home from our consultation. We highly recommend Prof Grey and the Manchester Urology Group.

To note: first time flexible cystoscopy, microscopic hematuria for 8 months and previous reoccurring UTIs (none for 5 months now) and very low pain threshold Visited Prof Grey and although he told me not to lose sleep over a flexible cystoscopy, naturally I googled everything and lost sleep. I attended the appointment today and i can honestly say in terms of pain, I’ve had worse smears and blood tests. The procedure was very short, the local anaesthetic was inserted which had a minor sting (not painful to any degree) and the camera swiftly after. The initial insertion was uncomfortable (but not painful) for a second or two. Once inside, there was no discomfort, also the same once it was removed. Staff were professional, friendly and informative. Genuinely had a smear on two days before which was more uncomfortable. I hope this helps anyone with their worries.

I have given up trying to find a good urologist in Manchester. I hope nobody else has the difficulties I have had in trying to find a doctor to help them get to the bottom of their problems. Manchester Urology was a complete waste of my time. They didn’t investigate my condition, nor follow up with me. The ‘service’ I received was completely the opposite of what their website claims.

I had a prostate procedure(TURPS) earlier this month at the Alexandra Hospital, Cheadle. A friend, who had previously experienced similar problems, recommended Mr. Stephen Brown. Within two weeks, I had had my consultation and been given a date for surgery which went very well. I found Mr. Brown to be very professional, friendly and reassuring and I can’t thank him enough. The treatment I received was excellent and has enabled me to resume a normal life

Excellent service from Professor Grey, and the Manchester Urology team. I was seen quickly, with an initial assessment to put me at ease, followed by a scan within the hour!? to confirm that there was nothing untoward that I needed to worry about. Professor Grey gave enough of 'the science', to help me understand what might be going on, but without overcomplicating things. Thoroughly recommend! :)

Awesome experience! I was suffering from ED and Azoospermia since last 2 years. I met several urologists/andrologists and they had conflicting views about the actual reason behind it. I never felt confident to get treatment from them. Finally, I met Dr. Vaibhav Modgil and he explained to me clearly the reason behind the problem and how he can help us in planning a baby. He performed a surgical sperm retrieval (micro-TESE) for me and recovered a good amount of sperm for my wife's IVF/ICSI. I was also suffering from prepetual adhesions for which he performed a minor procedure to divide them and make them normal too. His confidence and patient-friendly approach made us feel overwhelmed. We are highly grateful to him. Lot of respect for him. Thank you very much doctor! :)
