I had a cholecystectomy with Mr Christian Macutkiewicz back in March at the Spire Hospital in Manchester and can say the experience from start to end was excellent. During my first appointment he explained all the details of the surgery and answered all my questions. He made me feel at ease and reasured me of the benefits of getting it done - and what could've gone wrong to. He even did a drawing of all the steps of the operation for me! On the day of the operation he went through all the details again and answered more of my questions. It was my first ever surgery, so himself and all the team made me feel really comfortable. After the surgery he explained how everything went and even got me a photo of my gallbladder as I was curious to see it! I was home the same day with virtually no pain, I didn't even need painkillers. And the next day I was out and about, eating and drinking as normal. Four weeks after the operation I had to take a flight and he was really helpful providing me with all the prescriptions I needed to fly safely and writting the letters for me so I didn't have any issues at the airport. I even emailed Mr Macutkiewicz to ask questions about protecting my scars during my holiday, and he quickly replied with his comments. Six weeks after the operation he checked that all my wounds were healing well, answered another lot of questions about scar management and made sure I left with all the answers. The fact that every time I looked for information about gallbladder removal online most articles on the papers were written by Mr Macutkiewicz made me feel like I was in the best hands. He's really friendly and communicative so that greatly helps the process!
