Rooms: Poor, stayed twice and both times with issues. But as nice people we overlook things unless it’s really major! For the price tag they have, people should expect perfection. We didn’t have this. Food & drinks: Mediocre for a 4 star hotel.

DO NOT BOOK AFERNOON TEA HERE !! We have just had possibly the worst Afternoon Tea I have ever experienced. Before we were even shown to the lounge we had to wait for about 10 minutes in reception as the receptionist was on the phone. I accept the receptionist could not help this but it would have been only polite to ask the person to hold momentarily and acknowledge us. We were eventually shown to a very low coffee table with sofas that, however comfortable, were not conducive with eating or drinking tea. When the afternoon Tea arrived the sandwiches were dry, the tuna was in a wrap and there was the largest piece of sausage roll I have ever seen, which tasted quite disgusting. These were the only savoury offerings. The sweet selection consisted of some very strange tasting scones, plain ones that I think they forgot to put any sugar on and chocolate ones! They were not dainty as you would expect but at least appeared homemade. The remainder of the sweet offerings had clearly come from a packet and looked like they had seen better days. I approached the staff and raised my concerns. I was told they never received complaints about the food but they would remove the service charge and take 10% off the bill. When I came to pay I found that the service charge was actually on top of the £32.50 per head so I got the grand total of under £10 off !!!! (and that did not even include a glass of wine - which we were never even offered! ) I should have complained more but this had been a special treat for my 87 years old Mother's birthday and my 94 year old Godmother who were already upset about the, quite frankly, appalling spread. I just wanted to get them out of there! The whole experience has cost nearly £90 which I will now have to fund myself as I will not be asking her Grandchildren to fund such a terrible experience. I have had a far better experience in the garden centre in Nailsworth for half the price so would suggest going there instead.
