Firstly, if this were a review on the B&B as a building without reference to anything else, I would give it five stars without fail. The B&B is beautiful, a perfect location, and has such a unique character as a place to stay. The room is a great size, the shower is fine, and the off-license nearby is super handy, especially if you are unfamiliar with the area. I could quickly get to my friend's hotel and other locations in the area. But I won't return unless I find out there was a management change. On the day of my arrival, Kerstin, who manages the B&B contacted me to let me know that she had personal errands to do and asked me if I think that I will realistically make it for 5pm. I had no issue with this as a later time suited me. Due to further delays that day, I was running later than planned but didn't think there would be an issue. Also, let's bear in mind that I was going there via train in between the scheduled train strikes. While I was still on my way, I got a call from Kerstin, not in the nicest tone, explaining about the timing and how I would have to let myself in if I arrived later and asking me how far I was etc. I was taken aback, but I proceeded to answer her questions and be polite, even though I would be well within my rights to push back. I had booked two nights at the B&B and my sisters were joining me for the second night, which I explained to Kerstin and paid an extra charge for. Unfortunately, my sister had to bring her 3-year-old with her, as her son's father had dropped out of looking after him at the very last minute. I was unaware of this as they joined me very late in the day but thought this should not be too much of a problem as my sister's son will be able to be contained within the facilities of my room. I was automatically going to address this unforeseen change as well apologetically when I got the chance. Well, when I saw her at breakfast, she made it abundantly clear and in a very uncomfortable way that she was unhappy about my 3-year-old nephew being present without her knowledge. My sister immediately stepped in, apologised and explained how this happened, but Kerstin's attitude was ghastly. Separate from this, the internet was very weak and could not be picked up from my guest room. As I was attending a wedding as a bridesmaid this weekend, I wasn't around much but had I had some downtime, then this would have been a bigger issue for me. And the breakfast I was served was reasonable in presentation and taste, but it was essentially belly decoration rather than a satisfying meal. Her customer service left a lot to be desired. She also needs to de-personalise her approach in how she handles guests, as well as input a bit more flexibility into timings for guests to check in and out, for unexpected things like delays etc. I was a customer paying full price, not a relative paying £70 for the weekend.
