Recently I attended a consultation with Mr Quamar MK Bismil (Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon) at his Fitzroy Square rooms regarding a complaint with my right and left hands, a condition that was troubling me for at least six month. I was referred to Mr Bismil by my general practitioner. Mr Bismil was absolutely excellent. He explained all elements of my care in a clear manner as well as offering me a variety of different options. All of the options suggest had a sound evidence base underpinning them. With each option offered I was informed about the benefits and the potential drawbacks thus allowing me to make a truly informed decision. Time was put aside for me to consider these options and for me to ask questions. I was treated by Mr Bismil and the outcome of the interventions were successful allowing me to return to being able to carry out my activities of living unimpeded. *** months after treatment I am still able to function effectively at 100%. Prior to Mr Bismil’s interventions I was limited in my activities (for example, typing, gripping items, carrying items, going the gym to lift weights) and I suffered a substantial amount of pain, I was unable to go to the gym and the impact on my health and well-being was significant. I have returned to the gym and I am now able to function effectively and above all I am pain free. Mr Quamar MK Bismil is a professional of the highest calibre. He practices evidence-based medicine with positive patient outcomes and indeed the patient is at the centre of all he does. I would have no hesitation in recommending Mr Quamar MK Bismil to those who are in need of a first class orthopaedic. Jussi Lahtinen

Having discarded the option of treatment via the NHS for my trigger finger condition, I hit the internet hoping to find a reputable surgeon who could solve my problem. I came across the Wide Awake Hand Surgery service and was attracted by the speediness and efficiency of the whole process. Due to work commitments I had a very narrow window in which I could undertake surgery and recuperate. I contacted Mr Quamar Bismil through the number on the website. An appointment was scheduled for the same week. Four days later I walked into the clinic at the Queen Mary Medical Centre off Harley Street. A quick consultation confirmed the diagnosis and thirty minutes later having filled in all the required paperwork I was being prepped for surgery. Apart from the slight pain from injecting the local anaesthetic, the whole process was pain free. Half an hour later, it was all over and I was busy sipping a cup of tea in the waiting area. I had clear instructions for the post-operative care and a list of numbers I could contact 24/7 should I have any concerns. Three days later, I paid a visit to the clinic so that the surgeon could check that it was healing nicely. For pain management, I took over the counter analgesics. I found the whole process, speedy and emotionally supportive. It was comforting to be treated by people who really cared about my well-being and about me as a person. Throughout my recuperation I have had easy access to my surgeon, by phone and email and I have been offered additional appointments to allay any concerns. Overall, the post-operative care I have received has been excellent.
