FAQ

What is your experience and training in craniosacral therapy?

At Try Rolfing®, we have practitioners who are trained and experienced in craniosacral therapy. Our practitioners have gone through extensive training to become certified in this therapy and have years of experience in providing this service to our clients.

How does craniosacral therapy differ from other types of manual therapy?

Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, hands-on approach that focuses on the manipulation of the craniosacral system to improve the body's natural healing processes. Unlike other types of manual therapy, craniosacral therapy is non-invasive and does not involve forceful movements or adjustments.

Can craniosacral therapy be helpful for my specific condition or symptoms?

Craniosacral therapy has been shown to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions and symptoms, including migraines, chronic pain, stress, and anxiety. However, each individual is unique, and we recommend scheduling an initial consultation to determine if craniosacral therapy is appropriate for your specific condition or symptoms.

How many sessions will I need and what can I expect during a typical session?

The number of sessions required varies depending on the individual and their condition. During a typical session, you will lie fully clothed on a treatment table while the practitioner uses gentle touch to manipulate the craniosacral system. Sessions typically last between 45 and 60 minutes.

What is your approach to integrating craniosacral therapy with other treatments or therapies I may be receiving?

At Try Rolfing®, we believe in a holistic approach to healthcare and work closely with our clients to ensure that our craniosacral therapy is integrated with any other treatments or therapies they may be receiving. We will communicate with your other healthcare providers to ensure that your treatment plan is coordinated and effective.

I came to see Nico around 3 months ago. I have suffered from long term upper left back/neck issues and more recently left hip pain, that no massage or acupuncture or osteopathy could ever cure. A friend from Mexico told me about Rolfing, so I thought I would give it try. My left hip pain has vanished and my upper back has significantly subsided. Happy work in progress… Thank you, Nico!

Nico is an excellent Rolfer who has effectively tailored treatments to my needs. I have long-covid fatigue and chronic aches from nearly 2 decades at a stressful desk-job. Nico's highly intuitive, 'listening' touch makes me feel safe and relaxed - that's rare for me. From the very first session I noticed elevated energy levels. About 10 sessions later, chronic aches have miraculously eased. Go try him! You will be amazed.

I've seen Nico a few times now, mainly for neck pain/tension, which I've had for a while. I hadn't tried Rolfing/Myofascial release massage before so wasn't sure what to expect but I really liked it from the first treatment with Nico. It's relaxing and grounding and feels like it's actually releasing and healing something on a deep level, rather than a "superficial" type of massage. I have definitely noticed a difference in terms of pain/discomfort after only a few sessions. Nico is caring and professional and it feels like you are in safe and knowledgeable hands. Would definitely recommend.

Working with Nico was a profound and enlightening experience. After years of relating to my body in various ways - as an amateur athlete training for sport and endurance events, as a lawyer sitting long hours behind a desk, as a father, partner, son, yoga practitioner, coach, and in many other identity roles, Nico guided me to see and experience my body just as it is - as simply “me”. This brought me huge freedom, relief and self-understanding. Nico had a very special ability to mediate between me and my body, making his presence felt or fading it as needed to maintain my connection with myself. He was attentive, present, intuitive and kind; highly respectful of the work he is engaged in and of my own needs. He is a true professional committed to quality and service and understanding of the special work that he does. Every session yielded some golden nugget, an “aha” moment that brought me closer to myself. I am grateful for having received Nico’s gifts. I recommend him most highly and without hesitation.

This is a difficult review to write because I know it may well make it harder for me to book an appointment with Nico! He is very intuitive with his the Rolfing skills and also judging when I need to talk and when I need to rest quietly. I always find his sessions are a respite from the daily onslaught of life and feel so much better in my body for doing them.

I first saw Nico two years ago when I had a series of problems which I couldn’t truly identify. Effects of exercise, physiotherapy and massage were very short lived. Reading about Rolfing in a meditation book, I looked for a Rolfer and decided to see Nico. A few sessions in, I was already feeling much better and moving freer. Guided by Nico’s intelligent hands, my body was finding its natural state. By the end of the 10th session, I was feeling simultaneously grounded and lighter with a feeling spaciousness in my body. Recently I started to see Nico again following an injury which left my body very imbalanced. A couple sessions in, my body already began to heal and find its natural balance. Rolfing with Nico is completely different than any other manual work I ever had. Nico works with the body as a whole by organising the fascia in such a way that the orchestra of muscles, bones, nerves and veins that are embed in it naturally respond, release, realign and heal. I think Nico is an exceptionally talented Rolfer. He works like an artist with deep understanding and intuition for the body. His calm, kind and warm personality provides a safe environment. I learnt so much from him. I highly recommend Nico’s Rolfing to anyone in need of manual therapy to release physical or emotional tension.

Finding Nico was a godsend. Nico’s gentle yet firm touch helped me get my body back. Being hyper mobile, I had to learn how to hold my body, how to walk and Nico was there to re- align me again and again. I haven’t looked back since !

50 years of dancing has taken its toll. An injury last year prompted me to try rolfing. Great decision! This technique works on your entire body, brick by brick, treating the core of the problem, not just the symptom! I am back poll dancing at the age of 63! Nico is an amazing therapist. His combination of kindness and great hands put me right at ease and his intuition is exceptional. And his prices can't be beat! 10 out of 10!

Rolfing was the most powerful and healing process I have been through, and as a counsellor I have recommended it to clients and colleagues as well as friends. Through different stages of my life I experienced trauma. Whilst training to be a counsellor, one of my tutors took me aside and said that one day when I was ready I should do some body work. The thought terrified me and I thought can't I just sort this all out through talking? I'd looked into and considered lots of different body therapies and nothing felt like it was right. One day my dad found an article in the Times and insisted I read the magazine. Some of the things Nico said in this article really resonated with me, particular with the changes in clients who had experienced trauma and the physical and emotional connections that Rolfing works with. I'd never heard anything about Rolfing before. I did a limited amount of research because I didn't want to go in with expectations of what it would do, I wanted to let the process flow naturally, but I researched into the professional organisation of Rolfers, their ethics and training and how practitioners are regulated. I was happy with all of this and fortunately Nico practised not far from where I lived. If you've experienced trauma you might understand why I doubled back and went home again on the morning of my first appointment before giving myself a stern talking to and getting on the bus. I was terrified, but also knew I wanted to do this. Nico was great. He helped me to feel at ease straight away. Nico is very warm, calm, and professional. I experienced a lot through the Rolfing process. I found that a lot of trauma that had been locked in my body was released. Nico was with me every step of the way and gave me the space and time to feel safe. He always checked in and had me actively involved so that we worked at my pace. Nico adapted to my needs, building up to a session that I thought would be particularly challenging. I think one of Nico's greatest strengths is how intuitive he is and how he attunes to his clients. When really difficult things came up for me, Nico listened, accepted and respected me. That was so important, having had negative experiences in the past where I have felt shame. This ended up being a deeply significant part of the work for me. Nico taught me so much about how my body had reacted to trauma. The massage work physically released and - the way I like to see it- restored my body to its natural state, had it not been interrupted by life events. My posture is completely different. I stand differently. I used to disassociate from my body and I had no connection with my body. I now have a beautiful relationship with my body which is the best gift ever. This keeps growing. For example, after doing this I felt confident enough to go back to yoga after 15 years and the difference was amazing. I got what people were going on about as I was more present and 'in' my body. I feel safer in my body and more empowered. I don't hide or shy away anymore. I walk tall. I'm more sure footed. I trust myself and my body. I'd never have believed it before, but I now run 3 times a week and absolutely love it. It's hard to explain but before I just wouldn't have experienced joy doing that. Things keep building from this and I'm now comfortable enough to explore my sensuality, a part of my life which I thought might be lost forever. I know this is a long detailed review, but if this helps just one person who has had some twists and turns in their life take the chance and decide to go and see Nico then it's been worth my time and aching thumbs!! It was truly a life changing experience for me, and I hope it is for you. Good luck xx

Nico’s Rolfing sessions are great. His dancer background means he has a deep understanding of the body and is able to work intuitively. I’ve had about ten sessions so far and always leave feeling really light and spacious. He’s also a really lovely guy who clearly enjoys his work. Would recommend to anyone interested in exploring Rolfing.
