    Unfortunately the morals and nonsense rules of Locks let the place down massively. I Wouldn’t recommend anybody who is looking for any sort of adult-like freedom to come here. Especially first years. On multiple occasions it’s been too dangerous for my friends or flatmates friends to leave as they have had no way home etc and were still forced to leave. Even though on all occasions the 2 day notice for overnight visitors rule was clearly abided by, and we had to deal with the consequences of their job not being done adequately. The overnight staff are extremely inconsiderate of the situations even after explaining that there’s no means of travel at 2am. You’d think their job as ‘security’ would involve some understanding as to the dangers of roaming around the streets early hours. Although the rooms are immaculate their lack of compassion and understanding to their residents is severely lacking and override's any positive experiences in this place.

    Depends what you’re looking for, if you want the full ‘uni experience’ going out clubbing, flat parties and the rest this accommodation ISNT the place for you. I feel as though my experience was tainted due how strict security are. We aren’t allowed to play ‘loud’ music or even have colourful lights and you can’t have many visitors and if you were to have a small party it would be shut down immediately. Luckily I had already had friends and made a few around Birmingham but I feel as though you won’t get much of a social life if you haven’t already got friends in place. You can’t have overnight visitors unless you let them know 48hrs before. Despite this the accommodation is beautiful, bedrooms are so spacious, reception staff are nice and usually everything is taken care of , however there are a lot of inspections and I’ve heard security guards are ‘dodgy’ and act inappropriately. If I’m completely honest so far I’ve enjoyed my stay but I do believe it would have been a lot better somewhere else. Would probably recommend Jennens Court (visually isn’t as nice but you’ll make more friends).

    University locks is an extremely clean accommodation with the most friendly helpful staff! The accommodation team who work during the day are always available to help and maintenance team take care of any problems immediately. Also overnight when accommodation teams are not available there is overnight security who are happy to take care of any problems and making you feel safe. I have encountered a few personal issues and Malik has been extremely helpful and constantly takes care of all students living here! Out of all accommodations I have been to in Birmingham I can say University Locks is the best one! Malik makes you feel like you are living in a safe environment and is always there if you ever need to talk.
