William Wordsworth, Poet Laureate, "I wandered lonely as a cloud, amidst a host of golden daffodils"... Last week my wife and I, from Sheffield, wandered in Glen Gardens amidst a host of golden daffodils,but, not lonely, as we met so many lovely people from Heworth. William Wordsworth, "Earth hath not anything so fair, (view from Westminster Bridge). Dull would he be who could pass by a sight so touching in its majesty". York hath not anything so fair, so peaceful, so "far from the madding crowds", and dull would he be who could pass by Glen Gardens, so peaceful, so beautiful, so appealing to very young and very old, and all between, with toddlers on the grass learning to walk, young children learning to ride bikes without falling off, while mothers and fathers, grannies and grandpa's, perambulate babies to sleep, families picnic, pensioners pass through, all taking the refreshing York air, amidst a host of golden daffodils, and many other beautiful flowers and plants, in well-tended beds, for which the Glen Gardens gardeners and staff are to be congratulated and thanked.
