The watercress line is a volunteer run concern. You can run between Alton and Alresford. Stop at Ropley. They have a selection of steam and diesel engines and period carriages. Each station is a great reconstruction of a 1950/60 railway station. Regular service up and down the line make for a fun day out, with stuff to do at each stop. Check out the circular walks. The stations are well maintained and worth a visit for the flower pots and beds Check the website for various events. There is an educational centre and also viewing gallery at Ropley to observe the restoration efforts.
