    I booked via their website for the Japanese afternoon tea, a birthday celebration for my friend. Upon arrival they confirmed they had my booking, then proceeded to tell me the afternoon tea was not booked, just drinks in the lounge bar. When I challenged this, they said they couldn’t do an afternoon tea as they were not prepared and did not have the ingredients, which I find odd considering they advertise on a board outside! They tried to blame the error on me saying I had made an incorrect booking, hardly when the website gives you 2 options, an express lunch or afternoon tea, you click on one of these, no option for drinks in the lounge bar. Various other excuses where then made. I did not feel they were very apologetic about their error and they just told me to rebook for another date. I very much doubt they will even bother to look into the issue, despite telling me they would. They offered us the al a carte menu instead however, as we wanted afternoon tea this wasn’t really an option so we chose not to stay. In my opinion the customer service was lacking and they didn’t seem too bothered about our experience. Very disappointing, my friend and I had been looking forward to this for weeks.

    I am very disappointed. My friend Lucy booked for us to have afternoon tea today (1/4/23) and had the confirmation on her phone, with the booking reference as proof. However when we arrived, we were told the booking was listed as for drinks only. We showed the member of staff the booking. They said they would speak to the chef, however came back to say the chef would not be able to make the Japanese afternoon tea for us. We felt the staff were very unhelpful and did not seem bothered about helping us. It’s a massive shame as my friend and I were really looking forward to trying the Japanese afternoon tea, and had been looking forward to it for a while. We will definitely not be returning.

    Staff was unwelcoming/borderline rude. Service was unprofessional, food was not worth the money and the space wasn’t as great an atmosphere as advertised. Booked weeks in advance and communication was still so slow we couldn’t settle method of payment in time.
